The year 2018 came to an end and 365 new days and possibilities lay ahead. We took a second to recap our past year and all the amazing stuff we have done. A big part of our journey has been all the events we participated in. Like in previous years already, we have been traveling a lot!
There are growing real estate events with continuously increasing numbers of visitors all across Europe. Proptech events and startup competitions are also gaining more and more attraction. They are bringing real estate professionals and young tech companies together to prepare the industry for the future.
In March, we attended MIPIM Cannes which is the world’s leading property market. During the four days in Cannes, you could really feel and see the change that has happened in the industry.
When it comes to proptech, MIPIM Innovation Forum proved that real estate is now more or less about energy savings, smart buildings, and IoT.
It’s safe to say that one of the hottest topics of 2018 was blockchain. The subject we all know was of course highly discussed at MIPIM Cannes. There’s no doubt that it will have a major impact on the development of real estate and property technology industries in 2019 as well.
FUTURE: PropTech London & Berlin
The proptech buzz in Cannes was followed by a well-organized event, FUTURE: PropTech London. The topic for this year was “Digital Transformation Throughout The Property Lifecycle”. The event is one of the leading & most well attended global events. It is dedicated to the technology innovation & digital transformation occurring in the wider real estate sector. For the fourth time, this annual conference brought together over 1,200+ delegates including the world’s leading real estate companies, agents, brokers, and institutional investors to connect with the proptech ecosystem.
This London event wasn’t the only thing in our Place to be-list. Later on, in September, we were heading to FUTURE: PropTech Berlin where some of the most knowledgeable experts shared their insights about innovation and new technologies in the proptech field.
This year, the discussions were about AI in the real estate sector and good best practice examples on how to get startups and the traditional industry closer together.
MIPIM PropTech, Europe in Paris
The days at Palais des Congrés provided us with the perfect package. Buzz at the stands (including of course our own one), startup village, flash talks and panel discussions. What interested many of the attendees was the Flash Talk Zone. It offered the visitors short speeches from various speakers from different perspectives. These speeches once again emphasized that real estate is really now all about data and customer experience.
Meanwhile, our CEO Hannu Rantanen was invited as a speaker at several international events and a host for roundtable discussions. Hannu participated in events such as Propteq London, Global PropTech Online, ReCoTech, and various Finnish speaking events.
ExpoReal in Munich
One of the biggest events in 2018 was ExpoReal in Munich. It is the largest property and investment trade fair in Europe. The focus this year was not just on the topic of affordable housing or the opportunities and risks ten years after the financial crisis, but also on the digital revolution in the real estate industry.
We decided to join the REIN (Real Estate Innovation Network) with more than 80 international speakers, 65 leading tech companies and more than 6,000 visitors at ExpoReal 2018. Along with 40 other young companies, we were part of the Tech Alley. With this unique possibility to connect, the Forum allowed trade fair visitors to come into direct contact with technology companies which provide pioneering solutions for the real estate industry.
During these three days, our team was giving Assetti demos non-stop. Sometimes, there was even a queue to have a look at what we have to offer. A circumstance we are more than happy about! At the same time, we were thinking the time after our company was established in 2013: how long we had to wait for the industry to wake up and see the potential of not just Assetti, but also all the other innovative ideas and companies?
During this year, we got great feedback on our product, showing us that we are doing something the industry can profit from. We are eager to develop further in 2019 to grow for, and with, our customers.
So 2019, bring it on – we’re ready!
